Board Confirms Glazer Proposal
The board of Manchester United stated on 20th December that the Glazer Family Partnership ('Glazer') had indicated potential revisions to its previous proposal and that Manchester United did not intend to open discusions on this matter until it had received a definitive proposal.
The board has noted the recent press speculation on this subject.
The board can confirm that it has now received a detailed proposal subject to various preconditions which may form the basis of an offer for Manchester United from Glazer.
A further announcement will be made in due course.

Shareholders United and a number of other groups are holding a protest at Old Trafford tonight. SU are urging supporters to "go straight to Old Trafford from work" tonight where a noisy protest will be held. The idea is to let the board know the fans' feelings at a crucial juncture. The board must decide in the next two days whether to allow Malcolm Glazer "due dilligence" - access to United's books and contracts. If Glazer gains that access, an official bid will surely follow.
FROM SU:
Tonight (Wednesday) - Go straight from work to Old Trafford. See "THE ACTION" below.
The Board are set to consider letting Glazer see the books. Don't let it happen. The Guardian claim that the United board are looking likely to allow Glazer to conduct due diligence, the process of checking a company's financial books. This would be nothing less than selling out the supporters. It would be the green light for Glazer.
His advisers could even have access to United's legal documents and
sponsorship contracts by the end of this week, having offered to sign
confidentiality agreements.
It is likely the Manchester United board will make the decision over
whether to open the books to Glazer in the next two days. This is the
crunch.
We need to give them support to make the right decision for Manchester United. If the board open the books to Glazer they are handing him the keys to Old Trafford and selling the fans down the river. We need to ensure they understand that, but also understand the support they will get from thousands of supporters if they reject Glazers proposals.
Be there tonight (Wednesday) - and tomorrow too. Until we get the right decision.
THE ACTION
Tonight - Go straight from work to Old Trafford. Or leave early if you have to travel further. Talk to other Reds and get them to come too. Take your car/van/lorry if you have one. From 5.30 building up to 7pm we want to see cars parked on the car park opposite the Megastore with your lights on full beam and your horn sounding. Make sure they know we will not accept Glazer.
Provided the car park is open as usual we do not intend to block the road. More plans are afoot - nothing illegal but you'll see when you get there. If you can pick up flags and banners bring them down. If you don't have a vehicle then come on foot. Make your voice heard.
You could just leave it and go straight home but if you care you will be there. If you don't, then don't complain.
This short-notice demo is just a sample of the protests that will follow should Glazer's proposals go forward. |

The thing was, for example, Abramovich looked at Barca and Real and couldn't just buy them, as he did with Chelsea, because they are membership clubs. |
